A parent-first guide to Connecticut adult services

Turn Connecticut’s two adult disability pathways into the next action you can complete.

Connecticut uses separate systems: DDS for intellectual disability or Prader-Willi syndrome, and a capacity-limited DSS Autism Waiver for qualifying autistic people without intellectual disability. Choose the correct lane before acting.

Immediate danger? Call 911. For emotional distress or a mental-health or substance-use crisis, call or text 988. Suspected abuse or neglect uses Connecticut’s age-, disability-, and setting-specific protocol; open the official reporting routes.

DDS and the DSS Autism Waiver are separate lanes

Use DDS eligibility for intellectual disability originating before age 18 or Prader-Willi syndrome. Use the DSS Autism Waiver eligibility route for autism without intellectual disability. Beyond Childhood does not infer a DDS regional assignment or treat the two programs as interchangeable.
