Report adult abuse or neglect in Missouri

Before you start

  • Adult's location, age and disability, immediate safety, inability to protect essential interests if applicable, observable facts, dates, injuries or risks, alleged responsible person, witnesses, current services, and failed safeguards.

Who to contact

Use the official Regional Office, TCM or Support Coordinator, MO HealthNet, provider-relations, hearing, Constituent Services, crisis, or protective-report route that owns this step.

Find the Missouri DDD Regional Office

Step by step

  1. For immediate danger, call 911.
  2. Report suspected abuse, neglect, self-neglect, or exploitation to Missouri APS at 1-800-392-0210 or online when applicable.
  3. Separately notify DMH, the Support Coordinator, and provider and use event, complaint, correction, or appeal routes.

Expected next

A protective, law-enforcement, emergency, DMH, or event response plus a separate safety plan or service correction.

Save this proof

Report details and number if supplied, event record, separate service concern, proof, responses, and corrections.

If this stalls or the answer is no

Use APS, DMH Constituent Services, law enforcement, or 911 according to the person, setting, and immediate risk; ask the Support Coordinator to own service correction.

Limits

APS reporting and service correction are separate. APS eligibility, DMH-funded-provider investigation, DDD event reporting, appeal, law enforcement, and emergency response have different scopes.

Beyond Childhood’s checklists and prompts are planning aids derived from official sources. They are not official forms, legal advice, eligibility decisions, or guarantees of funding, capacity, quality, or service.
