Start the Kansas I/DD waiver pathway

Before you start

  • The complete offer letter and envelope, date received, current address, representative information, Medicaid status, requested choices, copies of all submissions, and contact details from the letter.

Who to contact

Use the official CDDO, KDADS program manager, KanCare Clearinghouse, MCO care coordinator, provider, FMS, Ombudsman, crisis, or protective-report route that owns this step.

Find the CDDO for your county

Step by step

  1. Read the complete offer and record the actual received date and stated return route.
  2. Complete and mail the offer letter back to KDADS within 15 days, preserving a full copy and trackable proof.
  3. If Medicaid is not active, immediately follow the HCBS Medicaid instructions and track Clearinghouse, MCO, and CDDO follow-up separately.

Expected next

Offer receipt confirmation, Medicaid action, MCO transmission and assessment, updated functional assessment, provider-choice contact, or written issue.

Save this proof

Complete offer and envelope, date received, completed response, mailing proof, contacts, Medicaid and MCO records, and next event.

If this stalls or the answer is no

Contact the I/DD program manager immediately if the letter is late, unclear, lost, or cannot be completed as written; ask for written instructions.

Limits

The published 15-day rule applies to the actual KDADS offer letter. The complete letter and actual received date control. An offer is not Medicaid approval, MCO enrollment, plan approval, provider capacity, or service start.

Beyond Childhood’s checklists and prompts are planning aids derived from official sources. They are not official forms, legal advice, eligibility decisions, or guarantees of funding, capacity, quality, or service.
